A tad raunchy, often hilarious and always a great deal of fun, WEDDING CRASHERS ($29) was one of the true comedic highlights of 2005. Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson star in WEDDING CRASHERS as our title characters, Jeremy Grey and John Beckwith, who ironically enough, make their living as divorce mediators. However during "wedding season" Jeremy and Johnís actual business takes a back seat to their hobby of crashing weddings, which they do for the sole purpose of scoring with every babe and or bridesmaid they can scam on that blissful day. For Jeremy and John, crashing weddings has not only been elevated to an art form, it has become a downright science, which they practice with surgical like precision.

Being masters at crashing weddings, Jeremy and John decide to up the ante, by crashing the social event of the season- namely, the wedding of the daughter of United States Treasury Secretary William Cleary (Christopher Walken). While things go well at first, John finds himself enamored with the brideís sister Claire (Rachel McAdams) and decides to break all the hard and fast rules of wedding crashing. As you might expect, this doesnít sit well with Jeremy, who has his hands full with the brideís clingy other sister Gloria (Isla Fisher). The situation spins out of control when John meets Claireís boyfriend Zack (Bradley Cooper) and decides that he and Jeremy should spend the weekend with the somewhat neurotic Cleary Family, all in an effort to woo Claire away from her boyfriend. The cast of WEDDING CRASHERS also features Jane Seymour, Ellen Albertini Dow, Keir O'Donnell, Ron Canada, Henry Gibson, Dwight Yoakam and Rebecca De Mornay.

New Line Home Entertainment has made both the Original Theatrical Version and the Uncorked Edition of WEDDING CRASHERS available on Blu-ray Disc in 2.35:1 aspect ratio presentations that have been encoded onto the disc with the VC-1 codec. Both 1080p presentations are of very similar quality; serving as a pretty sweet upgrade from the standard definition DVD release. Image sharpness, dimensionality and detail are all pretty good. However, I did notice some digital manipulation of the image, where reduces some of the fine detail. The application of DNR is not consistent, as there are sequences that are more detailed than others. Colors tend to be quite vivid, while the flesh tones remain attractive. The blacks accurate and whites are on the money. Contrast and shadow appear very smooth. The elements from which WEDDING CRASHERS have been mastered appear quite clean. Grain is quite mild, a result of the application of DNR, I would suspect.

WEDDING CRASHERS is presented on Blu-ray Disc with a 5.1 channel Dolby TrueHD soundtrack. As the surrounds are fairly engaging, and offer a bit more activity than one normally expects, this is a better than average comedy mix. Still, it should come as no surprise; the forward soundstage dominates the numerous talky passages of this comedy. There are nice channel separations across the front; additionally, the usual complement of ambient sounds and musical fill are also directed the rears. Like your typical comedy, the track offers its share of popular music, the fidelity of which is further enhanced over the standard DVD, thanks to the lossless codec on Blu-ray. The bass channel has little to do, other than keeping the track grounded. An English Dolby Digital 5.1 channel track has also been provided, as have English and Spanish subtitles.

The interactive menus allow one access to the standard scene selection and set up features, as well as the supplemental materials, which have been port from the DVD release. Starting things off are two running Audio Commentaries; the first with stars Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, while the second includes director David Dobkin. There are two Featurettes; Event Planning spends nearly eleven minutes offing a look behind-the-scenes, while The Rules is a tongue-in-cheek seven-minute look at the rules our two leading men live by to be successful wedding crashers. Next, we have The Rules Of Wedding Crashing written out as a study aid for those planning to do their own wedding crashing. A Music Video for the song Circus by The Sights, Deleted Scenes, a Theatrical Teaser and Theatrical Trailer close out the supplements.

WEDDING CRASHERS is a really funny movie that has been given a nice upgrade on Blu-ray. Sure itís not a demo title for high definition, but it is pleasing enough.
